Grassrootsmobilise Meeting on the National Courts Study and the Legal Status of Religious Minorities

The 6th Grassrootsmobilise research progress meeting took place in Athens between the 2nd and 6th July 2016. The researchers were fortunate enough to be joined in Athens by Professor Monica Claes and Advisory Board Member Professor Julie Ringelheim, who offered feedback on their latest research, particularly in relation to the study of references to the Court’s religion-related case law in national high courts. The meeting was also important in discussing the publications that are currently in development on the legal status of religious minorities, particularly following the presentation of related research at the EASR “Relocating Religion” Conference in Helsinki.

Participation in EASR “Relocating Religion” Conference, with panel on “Mobilizations around Religion and Education in the Shadow of the European Court of Human Rights”

The Grassrootsmobilise researchers recently participated in the European Association of the Study of Religions (EASR) Conference on “Relocating Religions”, which took place in Helsinki between 28 June and 1 July 2016. They presented a group panel on “Mobilizations around Religion and Education in the Shadow of the European Court of Human Rights”, discussing the preliminary results of their fieldwork research on the respective issue area.
